Embrace August
A poem inspired about August ending

Looking all around,
I see a sky of brilliant blue,
trees dressed in emerald green
and wild flowers in the fields.
Apple trees offering fruit,
that gently fall to the ground
and roses still in the vine all around.
My pear tree
heavy with fruit,
nothing at all to signal,
that the days of summer -
are dwindling away.
Along the riverside,
the river gently flows,
gulls that land upon the water,
go bobbing along,
with the shimmering ripples.
A gentle time,
a time to reflect,
the full August moon,
shines brightly
and bathes everything in a magical glow.
The days still easy and slow,
colorful butterflies,
dancing from flower to flower,
summer’s far from over
and everything is still in clover.
I know that this will end,
when the August days fly by,
but for now
and for all the beauty I see,
I pick daisies along the road,
with my heart and soul,
in my own way -
I embrace August.
