Embers of twenty.
…..written with my sister, Gift, in mind.

Twenty feels like a storm on the horizon, doesn't it?
The years stacking like bricks,
and you're unsure if you'll ever stand as tall as the world expects.
But I've seen you grow from seedling to oak,
weathering every change of season with a quiet fight.
_____
I've seen you bloom, even in doubt,
reaching for light you didn't know you had.
____
So, let twenty come-
let it wash over you like the wave you're scared of.
But you're more than ready to ride.
Inspite of the uncertainty that washes in this morn.
____
In this moment, l see you,
not for who you think you need to be,
but for who you already are-
bold in your softness,
limitless in your perseverance.
____
Don't fear what's ahead,
because you've already carried more than any year can hold.
You can do it all—and you will,
with every bit of the fire that's been burning in you since day one.

What a heart-warming poem! Dear Michael, I guess your bond with your sister is quite strong. I've already read the poems that you've both written. And they were wonderful too!
This was extremely powerful and so beautifully written. Loved your poem!
