Elizabeth & Tom

Ethereal moonlit slumbers, you melted my stars inside your candied song

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Slumbering under the stars,

Tom held her hand so tight.

They were from the slums,

Elizabeth whispered to him, “I’ll keep you warm and we shall have a sweet night,”

They ran around in rags and dirty noses,

They ran around and tried to find meaning in how they survived,

On next to nothing,

On stages of starvation,

They lingered to keep up the magick

Their magick,

And to relish in each other’s luminous light.

Growing up, the same way, same old story,

They found meaning in creating a new scene out of Elizabeth’s candied songbird voice,

and Tom’s melted stars that made up their torches

That guided their way,

Into a new sun lit chapter,

Away from all the pain,

And their cup never emptied

For their love always kept it full.

Reminds me a little of "Don't Stop Believin'".

This was so sweet! I really mean it. In my relationships, I seem to draw in people with less-than-ideal economic situations. I really try to see them for who they are instead of what they can offer me. Yet, money can complicate love. It doesn't have to though.
