"Nice shirt!" pollster said.
"My hero," I say, found out.
"Same," she winks at me.
Author's note: I bought this blouse a year before RBG died. The company that made it doesn't sell them anymore. But I wear it to the events where I need to boost my confidence and subtly communicate my worldview. Most people think it's a simple leopard print. But those who notice, know. It's like a coded language.
About the haiku: I know it's not really meeting the haiku criteria and I should have said "poll worker" instead of "pollster." But then it would have been 6 syllables in the first line.
Obviously, I've voted. I still like voting in person, especially because I live in the red-blooded rural Pennsylvania where my vote counts and where there are no long lines at the polling station. It's actually quite a pleasant experience: all poll workers are polite, friendly and attentive. There were more people voting this time, however, than in previous elections, but the turnaround was really quick. Took me about 5 minutes total, quick in and out on the way to work.

Thanks for the haiku. Enjoyed it.
I admired RBG, too.
It would be nice if the voting process here took place in less than 5 minutes too instead of a few hours 😅😅 Loved your poem!
Great job and glad the vote was a good one. May the results bode well!
Great job! So nice to hear you had a good voting experience!
I love this, Lana. Haikus like this uplift with their simple message.
Nice one, glad for the explanation… And love the shirt. I have relatives in Pennsylvania🙄
Well done...on all fronts! 🗳 ☑️
Really digging that shirt, Lana. It’s a little less obvious than the pink pussy cap I considered wearing when I voted! This piece is a great response to the given prompt (as usual)!
Rules smules. lol. I love that blouse and love that you wear it out and about. Loved your haiku, regardless of anything about rules smules. lol. Also, I have to confess - when you said "all poll workers are polite, friendly and attentive." I misread attentive as attractive and thought "steady on, Lana!" lol. Sorry for my brain ha. Well done on a great entry!
Great Haiku! And excellent to hear that you had a great voting experience ✨
