My word:

Eellogofusciouhipoppokunurious: good. More specifically, American slang word. A 30-letter adjective meaning "very good, very fine."~ collinsdictionary.com

I love these challenges and here's just one of the reasons: I literally learned this word about 10 minutes ago and I love it. (I'm not sure I'll ever pronounce it without having to pick my tongue up off the floor, but I don't even care. There's a video with the pronunciation linked below.)

It's 12 syllables of fun, and I am avoiding further expansion on that statement. You're welcome. Curiously, because my mind is somewhat bent, trying to pronounce it called up the memory of Captain Barbosaa's line in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: “I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request. Means 'No.'”

“Bent” might not be a strong enough word.

Anyway, how can you not like a word that makes people respond with, “Huh?” The answer is a no-brainer for me, which might be something of a segue back to the segue above.

Back to the task at hand, which, if I remember correctly, is a poem.

My poem:

I'm a simple kind of guy

Who writes with simple words.

Self-expression's hard enough

Without wading through turds. [sorry for the visual]

~

If I use a complex term

In anything I write

You can bet the reason is

To offer some delight.

~

And I've found an awesome word

I now present to you.

I'm gonna' use it in my poem

And you can use it, too!

~

Start with “Eellogofusciou”

And practice that a while

And if that isn't enough

To bring to you a smile,

~

“Hipoppokunurious”

Should be easy enough,

Then put the two together.

Now, that wasn't so tough!

~

Go and use it in your poems

And in your neighborhood.

When they ask you what it means,

Just reply, “It's all good!”

I went straight to the dictionary link you provided because I definitely needed to see the etymology; it doesn't feel like american slang so I was very curious. I suspect someone is pulling Collin's dictionary's leg. I did love the sound of the guy pronouncing it laughing a little at how its formed. Its definitely a mind puzzler.

  • I really wanna know who invented this word. I wanna know their though process 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Loved your poem!
