Echoes of the Ancestors: A Journey Through the History of Extinct Animals
poem
In the depths of time's shadowy halls,
Where echoes of the past still call,
Lie tales of creatures great and small,
Lost to the ages, but not forgotten at all.
Upon this stage of ancient earth,
Life danced in myriad forms of birth,
From towering giants to creatures of mirth,
In the vast tapestry of existence's girth.
Submerged beneath primordial seas,
Swam the graceful Ichthyosaurs with ease,
Their sleek bodies slicing through the breeze,
Masters of an underwater world's mysteries.
Upon the lands of ancient lore,
Roamed the mighty Tyrannosaurus, fearsome and raw,
A predator unmatched, with jaws like a saw,
Ruling over a kingdom with an iron claw.
In skies once ruled by feathered lords,
Soared the Pterosaurs, their wingspan scored,
Across azure realms where tempests roared,
Legends of flight that time ignored.
But alas, the wheel of fate does turn,
And even the mightiest must learn,
That extinction's flame can cruelly burn,
Leaving naught but memories to discern.
Through epochs wrought with strife,
Came the end of many a life,
As cataclysms brought forth the knife,
Of extinction's sharp and final scythe.
Yet from the dust of ages past,
Whispers of these beings still last,
In fossils preserved, their stories amassed,
Reminders of a world too vast.
So let us honor these ancient kin,
Whose tales echo on the winds within,
And cherish the lessons they did spin,
Of life's resilience, despite its thin.
For in the annals of history's scroll,
Lie the echoes of those who strolled,
Through time's vast labyrinthine fold,
Leaving footprints for us to behold.
