Easy

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Your silence was telling,

spoke thousands of words

and not one was uttered.

I chose myself at a time where you were choosing ghosts

all so that we could both feel something.

I am not competing with ghosts, darling

is what I should've said,

but you withdrew and it's like you already knew.

I will not force you to love me the way you love those ghosts,

the way you cannot let go.

I told you I hold no weight of past loves,

you told me they still hold you at a death grip.

You showed me the competition I'd have to do to keep you,

I made it easy.

I didn't compete.
