Early Morning Call

The ring made me jump out of bed.

Who is calling at 4:36 in the morning?

Dark and quiet frighten me now.

My eldest brother calling.

“If you want to see Mom alive, get here now”.

Speed limits don’t count at 4:36 in the morning.

The ambulance was just pulling out.

I looked to my brother for comfort.

He just shook his head.

It was 4:47 am and I was motherless.

Whoa!!! I felt the urgency to get there as soon as possible. Such a sad ending. Great job invoking that feeling.
