Pretence, semblance; 4

6 Bluffing, posing, duping.

A home that leaks, saves you from rain.

Faces.

2 Liar,

Barefaced, fibber. 4

6 Guiling, daring, palter.

Failing to speak, fear that will creep,

Quibbler.

State,

Languid, mental;

Brooding, pacing, rambling,

I’ve had enough of these lessons,

Spirit!

Safety,

Prudent, chary;

Shielding, freeing, guarding,

A/N : Everything is going to SH*TS, and I poured out all my emotions into this poem. First time trying this form. The first cinquain I’ve read was from Dharr. Shout out to you and thank you for writing yours so that I could have the confidence to attempt a cinquain — that really isn’t as good as yours but served as a way to vent — shh, just take the compliment! lol.

Anyways, I’ve had many days, where I feel everything and then absolutely nothing. Which is great sometimes, because then I don’t give a crap about anything that would usually hurt me — also meant that I am not emotionally available and that feels good for once. Not healthy, but… 🙈 thank you for being my therapist for this moment. Please do like, comment and subscribe, it’s free! ♥️🙏🏽🤗

    Nice job Caitlin. There are several different forms of cinquain poems I discovered from this article I read: https://writers.com/cinquain-poetry I looks tricky, but I will have to give it a try. I have got to master a Villanelle poem first. 😊

  • Omgggg, it made me so happy that you tried this form! But not so happy when I knew what this was about. But happy again because I'm sure writing this felt therapeutic for you. Well, at least I hope it did. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️ Also, Thank you so much for the shoutout! 🥰🥰🥰

    These poems show that you are willing to try and learn. Good job.

    I am unfamiliar with this style. I will say your words grabbed me, and I did feel emotions. An angry cry in the dark is how I felt.

  • I have not written a cinquain for ages, but yours is a very intense almost violent stabbing form with the words you have chosen. Excellent work

    The line Dysfunction, safer than freedom, Refuge is a spot on revelation! It fully explains why the human condition chooses destructive patterns of behaviors over health. Seriously eye opening, Caitlin! Loved your cinquain!
