Very well done 👏 I absolutely love the less is more approach. This poem could equally be a hc flash. So many emotions packed into this. It went from hope and excited anticipation, to sadness and hurt. The interplay of ingredients—some decadent and ‘special occasion’ showy, some comforting self-indulgent treats to cheer you up, and some just simply ordinary ‘everyday’ necessities; almost as if the writer longs for the intimacy with the ‘you’, that sharing the quotidian ‘meat and potatoes’ of life brings. But the crossed out dates, and words, suggest a repetitive state of being let down by this ‘friend’, this ‘you’? So heartbreaking 💔 The breadcrumbs to pond scum trajectory is brilliantly clever! This is what I gleaned from your piece. Apologies if I totally misinterpreted, but I loved it! 🥰

Feels a bit voyeurisric!! Nice list! Amazing how we can get characterisation from this. 😁

What a clever poem! A unique structure which evoked emotions even with someone as simple as a list. Well done!

  • That's a long break between shopping lists. Must have a great garden, lol. (I'm assuming you got the ring.)

This is brilliant! The lists created an entire scene for me. Wonderful job, Mackenzie! 💫💞

  • My two front teeth. Not me thinking about domestic abuse. Your poem was so sad!

This is fascinating. Parts made me laugh (two front teeth), parts made me sad (you?). I'm thinking about this one, knowing my wouldn't be nearly as "healthy."

This filled me with a deep sense of melancholy I don’t fully comprehend. The line [you?] was extremely tragic. well done Mackenzie!

Pond scum took me out, lol. This almost felt like a person that uses shopping as a distraction from other things going on in their life. Well done!

This is so 'writer who adores fall, craves companionship, but would rather chat with squirrels than attend a social event' coded. Reading this felt like all the seasons you cycled through. I felt the summer breeze on my face, the autumn liminality and coziness, the holiday solitude (especially the holiday solitude - those crossed out lines, ugh!!), extravagant expression of the spring and the grounding reality - all together! With a list of items on a grocery list!!! See I wasn't kidding when I said I'd read your grocery list!

I love this! The photo as well, idk how you always choose such good photos that go with your pieces. And titles! They’re always good and unique and I’m jealous! The crossed out words were so so effective and the ‘1 friend’ completely broke my heart.

Everyone loves to get expensive gifts, even if they don't really need them.
