Driving Back to You
The road is long. I will be back to you

Driving Back to You
The road is long and winding,
its lights are far ahead.
I keep my hands upon the wheel,
and drive back into time.
Driving back to you,
each mile erases fear.
The night becomes my ally,
it carries me along.
The radio hums softly,
with songs we used to share.
I press the gas more firmly,
as memory pulls me near.
The signs blur in their passing,
the stars above still guide.
I chase the thought of seeing,
your face once more again.
Driving back to you,
my heart beats loud and fast.
The distance melts away,
with every turn I make.
The road may stretch forever,
yet hope keeps me awake.
For waiting at the end,
is love I will not lose.
I see the city glowing,
the lights that call me home.
Driving back to you,
is worth the endless night.
And when I reach your doorway,
my journey will be done.
For love is worth the travel,
and I will do this drive again.

Memories will spurn us to do what we need to do.
Very nice, Marie. "The radio hums softly, with songs we used to share." There are some songs I cannot listen to because they have such an association with someone.
