I want to give up
I've lost my love
She's drifting away
In the current I made
Because there's a storm that follows me
I try to stay with her
But the waves overpower me
Take me under
To drown me
I reach out
But she doesn't reach back
She knows if she does
The waves will take her too.
As I sink I see her leave
The sun is beaming
It's sun rays shining through the blue
Her skin is sparkling
Like stars in the twilight
Like a glimmer of hope
I can't help but reach again just to feel her one last time
But when I try to grasp for her hand
It's just a refraction.
I sink to the bottom
Where the sun doesn't reach
And the water is cold.
As the current takes her away
I hope it's somewhere safe.

This is some deep stuff. The imagery of losing love in that stormy current is powerful. Made me think of times when things slip away despite our best efforts. You describe the struggle so vividly. I wonder, what inspired you to write this? And how do you think others will relate to this sense of loss?
