(Yesterdays, by Jerome Kern & Otto Harbach/arr. Bill Holman from Lab 2011 by the One O'Clock Lab Band)

A night sky moon.

Sheet forms a cocoon.

Imagination grows.

Personalized shows.

Participant and observer.

Served or server?

Something lost.

Forget the cost.

The road spirals down.

There is no town.

Dropping into a sinkhole

Where was the pothole?

Memories twisted.

Imagination persisted.

Unusual purchases

Transitioned churches.

Bombs explode.

Monsters abode

Standing on a chair.

Looking for an heir.

Live broadcast,

But, no forecast.

Stolen cars.

Under stars.

California beaches,

Eating peaches.

Cars crash.

Politicians clash.

Kaleidoscope,

Walking a tightrope.

Late for class,

Lost, out of gas.

Belt buckle or brooch,

It's a huge cockroach

Car transmission menace,

No trips to Venice.

The sun's rays break through the sky.

Dreamworld kissed goodbye.

Sharing some Jazz, it's Yesterdays by Jerome Kern & Otto Harbach/arr. Bill Holman from Lab 2011 by the One O'Clock Lab Band, UNT, Denton, TX.

This made me think of an undercover spy movie. Like, some great detective work was going on. Agent Babs Chilling While on the grill slabs Or Barbeque ribs Slathered in sauce Grab the bibs While the peach tree Grows fruit nearby Grab a few, for the raw peach pie Careful not to bite on the pit Like the pork bones Out with the pit, You should spit Meanwhile on the spit A rotisserie chicken's roasting And baking The skin is just flaking Packed and seasoned full of flavor Time to savor a meal Fit for a queen Lying on the beach A bed mattress that's the size for a king Under the stars Dothraki Fashion, have a wild fling Let Your voice sing As You live in the moment Great Good, Great Friends, a Great Time You Live it You own it Get a plateful of seconds Grab a third plate, another Bring it back to serve and be served Going from Maiden to Lover Pass the nights and the sportscar Rollin' in the Ashton Martin The engine turns over The wheels rollin' over Cruising fast, time goes by a bit slower Get a bigger engine, why not a W16? Roll around in it, cruisin' like a dream The motor revs The engine begs To be let loose Dining and Wining on superb supper While on the bullet train 1st Class section in the back of the Caboose Broiled goose With some gooseneck class And oysters Listening to the intercom opera As the singer's voice is boistered Then top the night off with a bottle of booze And when the alarm goes off, Slap that thang, and get to dream chasing Hitting the snooze

Great poem. I bet the cocoon of sheets were twisted, the blanket was in the floor, and your head was at the foot of the bed when you woke. πŸ₯°

Beautiful! I love how each line is sort of dis-jointed from the last with lots of unusual situations and things which happen and appear somewhat suddenly. Just like a vivid dream!! Nailed it
