Dreams
A poem, a day late, and a contest short
It is often said that obsession
Is a mental disorder
But I say obsession is the order
When it comes to dreams
Ask yourself
How do I never give up
How do I dance
Through the doubt
Can it be as simple
As getting up every morning
As breathing in and out
As holding onto hope
Like it's the edge of a cliff
Here's a piece of wisdom
Dreams are never truly gone
Until you let them go
So, go ahead
Live in your head
Dare to imagine
Greatness comes from
The courage to fail
A hard truth is
Hearts are meant to be smashed
Dreams are meant to be crushed
The bitch of it all
Is picking up the pieces
After they've fallen on the ground
In all honesty
There's something special
About staring life in the eyes
About proclaiming
No matter how many times
You knock me down
I’ll get back up
Truth is not convenient
Dreams are not gifts under a tree
Dreams are mountains to climb
For every step you take forward
There will be a thousand going back
Trust me
Everything will conspire
To keep you from the top
But if you manage to summit
The Everest of your dreams
Then, my friend
You will know how good obsession is
