Dreaming

-

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished about a year ago 1 min read

i rediscovered you like an old favorite song

I listened deeply like a first breath after a long swim

I dreamed of you over and over like a loop

The song felt too happy for me to get the right vibes

Your big curves hit my ears like that beginning that makes me feel alive

The whole damn thing makes me sick

I don’t give a damn, I’ll listen again

My heart is full of weak water, all my salt left me and crawled out into the misty moonlight

I don’t even want to hear it

But I crave you in my soul

Itchy, unrested, tired body is human

Too much human

I’m dreaming of shapeshifters into the night

I’m dreaming of dying again, never again

Going into the putrid light

I listened deeply like a first breath after a long swim- what a simile! Great Poem

The American Dad song reminded me about 'Majestic' by Wax Fang! Thank you I missed that song! Excellent story as always Melissa!

  • "My heart is full of weak water, all my salt left me and crawled out into the misty moonlight" Oh my, this was my most favourite line. And also the part where the song was too happy. I hate happy songs, lol. Loved your poem, Merly!

Such strong imagery! Love it! 🩷 "But I crave you in my soul" hits so hard right now, as do a lot of the lines in this!
