You were in my dream last night.
My hand reached out to you,
Your face melted into my touch.
I told you to I missed you.
You said you loved me.
We stood there for a moment,
Not moving,
Not speaking,
Barely breathing.
We soaked each other in.
We both knew though,
That nothing had changed.
I could miss you all I wanted,
You could love me all you wanted,
But at the end of the day,
We broke each other.
I dropped my hand.
You stepped back,
As we remembered the pain.
You smiled weakly,
I shrugged my shoulders,
Tears in my eyes.
You turned around,
To walk away.
I awoke,
Got out of bed,
And forgot the dream.
