Dragonfly at Dusk

Evening Reverie

By Amos GladePublished 4 months ago Updated 4 months ago 1 min read

I sat in my garden at dusk

My evening reverie brusque

Watching insects dance among botanical musk

When a dragonfly landed,

small and quite candid,

At the tip

of the top

of a lantern

The dragonfly turned and our eyes met

As the sun was beginning to set

The creature thrown into grand vignette

From the shadow,

It waved a giant hello,

From the top

of the tip

of a lantern

As my interest started to pique

It flew toward and kissed my cheek

Leaving me with a sense of mystique

I might be full grown,

But I’m never alone,

And my heart

It burns

Like a lantern

You used repetition to great effect here, and helped a small thing feel grand. Good work
