Dr.'s Log

Time recording is 1538 09/12/2022.

I'm here to write about the patient I've been assigned to.

By Hush Naidoo Jade Photography on Unsplash

The pattern of what I've read and what I've seen.

The patient that's been admitted is nothing new to the scene.

Love, Jealousy, Betrayal, and Murder.

An all encompassing note: Her partner retracted attention. He never heard her.

By Dorrell Tibbs on Unsplash

Did he mean to hurt her?

I wonder if he was keeping her locked up and penned, like a sheep herder.

Her wardrobe, car, house, and even her passion was red; was it all planned?

Her nail polish, lipstick, bows, and dress were now matching with the blood on her hands.

From talking with this client, her anger is still seething like a hot water kettle.

She told me that he'd been cheating on her, and she felt the flames on her rose petals.

I'm going to assume she's not just talking about her heart but also her labia, her lips.

Her philandering partner probably contracted an STD such as herpes, chlamydia, or syphilis.

That being written, he may have only given her attention when they were intimate.

This would've caused her to build up anger over time, over increments.

She loved him deeply. She was committed.

Sadly, anger and disease have been transmitted.

That being written, the police had told me of the crime scene, that they wish to not remember.

Parts of his body were taken apart from his body; his arms, legs, and even his "member."

Afterwards, she reenacted a scene so gruesome and terribly scary.

She didn't wash herself from it, but bathed in the delight of her crime. A tribute to Bloody Mary.

By Dalton Smith on Unsplash

Inside her house we found several bottles of poisons that she used to commit his homicide.

The usual over the counters such as bleach, rat poison, and even cyanide.

We did an autopsy of his body when we retrieved his anatomy.

She confesses to mutilating him alive while he was attached to an IV bag, phlebotomy.

By Marcelo Leal on Unsplash

She says that she can still hear his screams.

She smiled when she told me. I can still see her grin covered in blood in my dreams.

The man's mother decided to have him cremated into ashes.

The chief of police can no longer bathe, as he's suffering from back flashes.

She did all of this out of being spurned, for revenge.

We keep her under lock and key since she's being hunted; the family wants their son avenged.

She's not afraid of death, she told me, "I can't wait to meet him in hell."

This was a Promising Young Woman, and from grace is where she fell.

By Ian Stauffer on Unsplash

I feel sorry for this young girl, this young lady, so sue me.

I feel sorry for this young lady who's lovely name is Ruby.

By taking his life away she also has taken away her own.

She will never get to see her family again or make one; she can't return home.

Roses are Red and Violets are Blue.

After talking with Ruby, my log ends here. Time 1742.

I hope she will survive. This is a tale more tragic and Juliet and Romeo.

I do remember her poem "The chronicles of Red" and the eeriness of it!! This was well played with vivid imagery and clever rhymes!! I like the narrative you took and how this felt more humanizing for the character she created!! Great work here Thavien!!

This was captivating! You took the amazing poetry of Dharrsheena and created something so different and interesting. Your poetic storytelling really pulled me along. Great work!

  • So beautiful: From talking with this client, her anger is still seething like a hot water kettle.

  • A great take on th echallenge and you got a subscription form me.

  • This was PHENOMENAL! I love the fact the story in this poem was told through a psychiatrist's log of his session with Ruby. Loved reliving Ruby's emotions here. I loved this line the most: She's not afraid of death, she told me, "I can't wait to meet him in hell." I'm at awe at the fact that my poem inspired this masterpiece. I just love how you get inspired. You did a fantastic job on this poem. I loved it. And thank you so much for the shoutout at the beginning! 💖
