Dowager
Hiding behind the windows

The beauty which covered up the
Shallowness of your youthful soul
Has now long faded and disappeared
Although you try to hold onto your glory days
With expensive haircuts, clothes, makeup
And multiple surgeries you think are not obvious
The truth can no longer be hidden from your
Dark brown empty hollow eyes
Or the eyes of the ones who chose to love you
And have you in their lives
Now that time is winding down for you
We all see the neglect and embarrassment
You inflicted on ones you claimed to love
The lies, the pretentiousness, the self-importance
You lived your life through
Never experiencing real love
Always looking for an audience and approval
And now you are 80 years old,
A dowager set for life
Somehow managing to hide behind the huge windows
In the mansion he bought you
Down your long long long driveway
Where you can hide from your holy intent and truth
Drowning in the fantasies in the books you devour
To avoid life and self-honesty
In the house full of your conceit, victimizations and intolerance
Thinly disguised
As self-assigned self-righteousness
You cannot hide from time and the Divine
The sacred you is calling, but you refuse to listen
I hope and pray I do not become like you
