Don’t Throw the Fight
Panting; gasping for air,
Ears peeled for the buzzer blare.
When the end is nowhere in sight,
Don’t throw the fight.
Muscle’s cramping; heart pounding,
A grueling marathon; lungs screaming.
When the pain and fatigue is at its height,
Don’t throw the fight.
Demanding pace; relentless boss,
More responsibilities upon you toss.
Overwhelmed and not alright,
Don’t throw the fight.
Messy house; unpaid bills,
Sick kids; random spills.
Feeling dark but for others a light,
Don’t throw the fight.
We are one straw away from breaking our back,
About to snap; there is no slack.
Always looking for an excuse; a reason,
A good enough reason to deletion.
Instead of looking to throw our fight,
Throw it away and give in tonight.
Let’s look for reasons; facts of why,
Why never to give up; why always to try.
For we never know how close we are,
the finish line is not all that far.
The buzzer is about to ring,
And victorious at last we will be.
