Don’t Kill the Flowers
Let them live as god intended

Don’t Kill the Flowers
Don’t kill the flowers, let them be,
they bloom for none but wind and bee.
No hand has shaped their quiet grace,
no will has set their roots in place.
Out of cracks where none should grow,
in dust and ash, through frost and snow.
No sermon tells them when to bend,
no whisper warns of sudden end.
Yet boot and blade, in thoughtless tread,
lay silent meadows cold and dead.
Not every weed is meant to fall,
some bloom where none should bloom at all.

Not every weed is meant to fall, some bloom where none should bloom at all. Those lines!!! I want to hang that up in my girls rooms where they can read it every day. This poem speaks of how we all bloom in our own times and in our own ways and how carefully we need to make sure we don't squash someone else with our own thoughtless tread - maybe we see a weed, but maybe, just maybe, they haven't bloomed yet and they need some encouragement.
Ouch, I'm crying at this: Yet boot and blade, in thoughtless tread, lay silent meadows cold and dead. Your poetry is so endearing and vibrant. Wonderful job!!
Flowers and some weeds are meant to be no matter what. There are some weeds that are actually very pretty that sustains all kinds of weather. Good job.
Flowers can be very resilient in the wild
Beautiful lyric poem!
