Don't Fear the Reaper

The Man and the Reaper

There once was a man

Walking on a lonely road

The horizon he did scan

Holding close a bag his wife sewed

He shooed the flies from his head with a fan.

*

When should appear

The Reaper riding up on his scythe

Feeling the man up with fear

Dreading this man of myth

Hoping he wouldn’t come near

*

When the Reaper asked

What road they were on

The man gasped

They were on the road to Boston

The man wished the Reaper would wear a mask.

*

Off the Reaper did trot

Leaving the man on his feet

For it was another man's soul, the Reaper sought

So, the man decided to retreat

Before the Reaper forgot.
