Don’t Count Her Out

When Life Throws You Off Course

It always seems impossible until

it's done.

NELSON MANDELA

Life took

A direction

Not mapped

Out

And they

Painted her

In limitations

While that still

Small voice

Whispered

“Don’t count her out.”

"Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye." —Helen Keller

Life threw challenges

Her way

Stumbling blocks

And road blocks

Placed before her

Every day

But she found

A way around

As that inner voice

Shouted at all

That was in her way.

“Don’t count her out.”

"You must do the things you think you cannot do." —Eleanor Roosevelt

She’d heard the

Doctors words

That long ago day

But she didn’t

Pay them heed

As she heard that

Voice say

“Don’t count her out.”

"You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." —A.A. Milne

“Don’t count her out.”

Her life took

A new direction

A beautiful path

As life shouted

“Don’t count her out.”

Great poem Michelle. I gave my Grandson a keychain with the words at the bottom- braver stronger, smarter - however he was never given it, by my son. It is sad.
