Dogs Dream

Short Poems by Anonymous Dan

Sleeping Eyes

What will I do to sleep in my bed,

Panting and spinning, cradled the nest.

Breathing heavy and fast.

Slow in the calm.

Barking and chasing cars from the lawn.

Catching a belly rub, a tasty treat.

Then a roll in the sun,

and a walk in the street.

Playing with my master, ball in the back.

Flipping over the top,

Then catching a snack.

Living my days in the sun.

Running, chasing cars, birds, and trucks!

Cats and tails make me RRRRUUUFFFFFF! RRRRUUUFFFFF!!!

What?

I open my eyes.

Noise in the front?

But I think I'm back.

Where am I?

My legs want to work.

My legs aren't as fast.

Feeling so sluggish, is this where I am?

I can't lift my head, I feel really bad.

Ooh, can't I just lay here and go back to bed.

I want to get up,

but I love the pet on my head.

I think it's my time now to just go to sleep.

Why are you crying, master?

It's just a dream.

Dreaming of youth and passing the time.

Dreaming, one more dream and I think I'll be fine.
