Musky perfume of these leaves laid to rest

A gasp of crisp air kissed by morning dew

Cool rough stone of my rocky reading nest

Turning page, and soundless approach of a doe

Fragile peace pouring from dark eyes into mine

That last line got me and took me there. Nature is a wondrous place. Great job capturing the moment!

Beautiful, DK! I love the connection you make with the wild. Reminds me of Martin Buber's I - Thou. 'Musky perfume of these leaves laid to rest' is a magnificent opening line. Really wonderful writing!

Ooooooh love it. Love deer and had many encounters, on the Braes and funnily enough, off the Braes here. This is a little piece of sensory magic in poetry, DK! Well done!
