Diagnosed with an illness
In just a matter of minutes
Suddenly, I was told, here, hang on,
Take this, once, twice, or three times a day if you need to
Recognizing the name of the drug on the streets
Advocating for myself and for the others given this very same sheet
Coping less and less, ceasing to resist,
Telling myself, go ahead, trust in the process of this
In only a short span of time, a matter of months really
One pill turned into two, then two into a few, and well
Next thing you know, I am the one calling the code blue
