Do You Want to Live Forever?
A Reflection on Mortality, Technology, and the Essence of Being
Beneath the stars, we dare to dream,
Of endless days, a timeless stream.
Yet whispers rise, both soft and stern,
"Do you want to live forever?" they yearn.
The clock ticks on, its hands don't wait,
A fleeting life, a fragile state.
We build our towers, we chase the flame,
But immortality’s a dangerous game.
The world now hums with silicon veins,
Machines that think, and hearts with chains.
We code our souls, we freeze our tears,
But what of love? What of our years?
The forests fade, the oceans cry,
The earth grows weary 'neath the sky.
If forever means to outlast the trees,
Is it a gift, or a curse on our knees?
For what is life if not to feel,
The joy, the pain, the wounds that heal?
To touch the sun, to brave the storm,
To live, to die, to be reborn.
So ask again, with heart sincere,
"Do you want to live forever, my dear?"
Or is it enough to simply be,
A fleeting spark in eternity?
