Do We Really Have to Celebrate Christmas?
critique

She desired a large and diverse audience,
as having only two or three people was insufficient.
She wanted the entire crowd,
comprising individuals of various races and genders,
to witness her judgment that was tainted by the toxic tree.
From just one fact, she wove a captivating story.
Someone disliking certain things
has to react according to her imaginings.
The reasons behind behaviours remain a mystery.
That's okay. No one talks about them, anyway,
society fed on scraps of alleged blame.
If only everyone could be kinder,
I would have a reason to celebrate.
If someone had not once shamefully discarded my gifts,
I could have been
on the other side,
joining others in celebrating the birth of someone.
I too was born, but no one ever cared,
using me solely to express
their own meaningless.
They had their own families, but they used me as bait.
Luring me into their dirty cobweb.
Eventually, they disposed of me into a trash basket
laying beneath them.
They talked about being nice, but deep down,
they were quick to judge.
Showcasing their lives
as in the exhibition.
“Look!” they would say, “This is a proper family.”
“We compare our children, and it's only fair.”
Have you ever considered how it might affect them
in the long run?
Each child
will ultimately shape their own destiny.
Influenced by the circumstances handed to them.
The desire to emulate and measure up
leads to a tendency
to judge and critique those who don't conform to this facade.
It's like a charade,
all in honour of one who orchestrates
this entire performance.
Self-absorbed, don't even bother to read anything
or show any appreciation towards genuine things.
I suppose we must still eat this meal,
even in the wake of his passing.
