Do these thoughts reflect a universal truth?
The Journey of Becoming
I've always loved a quote: "I used persistence to burn away all my childishness and willfulness. From that wilderness, I slowly grew rationality, indifference, and clarity." Reading it, I was truly silent for a long time. Because every moment of growth is like this: you set the fire yourself, burning away the naive and simple-minded self of the past, leaving behind the quiet and slightly colder person you are today.
Relationships between people are ultimately temporary companionship. The person you once thought about daily, staring at your phone for messages, will later become just a brief episode in your life. The questions that seemed unresolved and unanswered at the time ultimately fade with time. You don't have to force yourself to let go; they will naturally fade, and you'll no longer care so much.
No matter how you live your life, there will always be people who criticize you. I remember reading a quote in a book: "People don't criticize you because you've made a mistake; they criticize you first so they feel more innocent." How ironic, yet so true. So, how do you live your life correctly? You just live the way you want, eat the food you enjoy, meet the people you want to, and see the scenery you like, without having to answer to anyone or put yourself in a difficult position.
True strength isn't about emotional stability, but about the ability to block out what needs to be blocked. Whoever is draining you, dragging you down, or stressing you out—you should tune them all out, or you'll only become more and more exhausted. When you see someone clearly, there's no need to argue; simply stay away. Minimizing responses and explanations is a form of self-protection.
One of life's greatest fortunes is meeting someone who isn't there to join in the fun but to open up a new world for you. They help you break through your old ways of thinking, elevate your perspective, and make you more clear-headed and powerful. What else can such a person be but a benefactor?
Life isn't about acting perfectly; it's about experiencing, making mistakes, and taking detours. I've come to accept my clumsiness, my lack of intelligence, and my occasional "rot." I allow myself to be vulnerable and take a breath in reality. Because only by reconciling with your imperfections can you find a way to love the whole version of yourself again.
I hope you can let go of your anxieties, release the standards imposed by others, and embrace the version of you that hasn't been worn down by the world. Because that version of you is truly worth cherishing.
