What will the new year bring ?

2026

2026 stood at my door one morning,

No big speech, no shining parade.

It just looked at me, calm and quiet,

As if asking what I planned to make.

The world still hummed with old mistakes,

Echoes of years that never quite healed.

People smiling for photographs,

While hiding the truth they refused to reveal.

I carried my past like loose change,

Heavy enough to always be heard.

Every step made a small noise,

A reminder of promises spoken, then blurred.

Hope did not arrive dressed in gold,

It came tired, with dust on its shoes.

It sat beside me without judging,

And waited for me to choose.

Love still felt dangerous at times,

Like ice too thin to trust.

Yet I kept stepping forward anyway,

Because standing still only gathered rust.

Time moved faster than I remembered,

Days slipping through careless hands.

Moments mattered more than ever,

Unwritten rules I began to understand.

I stopped begging the past for answers,

Stopped asking why things fell apart.

Some lessons arrive without reasons,

They simply carve themselves into the heart.

So 2026 stayed a while longer,

Not loud, not cruel, not kind.

Just another year offering chances,

If I was brave enough to open my mind.

Good job and that's one way to usher into a new year.
