Free Verse Poem

By Ocean MyrandaPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

If you look closely, you might see the full story

But don’t look away, for you might miss an important detail

Those eyes carry so much emotion, so much weight

That if you’re not careful you could drown

How she handles that much force

Most do not understand, but they try

The pain surging through those gray flittering moments

The sorrow that drags those unprepared into their own watery graves

The fierceness of the anger as the tide surges

Wiping out every glimpse of hope and happiness

Until that moment when her gaze meets another

The calming of the storm, the sudden grounding she can feel

The soft meadows of grass, beckoning the lapping of the waves closer

A quiet hush as the wind dies down and the waves soften

He sees her pain, but does not pick or pry

Keeping his footing as to not fall down the hole

Holding her hand to save her from the current

She lets out a breath of relief

She can relax now and sleep

Those ocean blue eyes that tell her story

Close until another day

And another soul gets caught in her gaze

In hopes those green eyes can save her once more
