Moments spinning
In handheld device
Swirling past
Caught in the wind
A hurricane force
Running away
Rampant towards decay
Towards ultimate delay
Of the dreaming mind
As days dwindle
And sunshine eludes
The pallor of skin,
Afraid to return color
To a canvas awaiting
The true artist
Of summer days
And spring seconds
Spent out of doors
With little care
For the elusion presented
By the media
And the statistic meant
To be achieved by
A certain date
Not written in stone
Or pinned to skin
Like a constant reminder
Of short-comings
And late blooms-
A dawdler when the weather
Allows in its comfort,
A stickler
When the winter sets in
And freezes over all emotion
Meant to bring joy and longevity
To a community
Lost in itself
And in the world,
Staring at small devices
Reflecting back codes
That translate to destruction.
