Disrepair, or the Ouroboros of Life

It’s an endless pursuit

Disrepair: the state of my life

In pursuit of the ultimate happy place,

Staunchly ignoring the blasé in favour of

Treasures and shiny newness

(Regrettably, the gleam will dull in…

A week, maybe two).

Can’t regret what I can’t see, though

To the drawers they go, hidden out of sight.

Indulgences, these—but I’ll come back to them eventually: an endless cycle, an

Ouroboros of chasing that dopamine,

Not realizing that my ultimate happy place can’t stay still, just like me.
