Slip past the gate while stars still gleam,
Before the world can start to scream.
Take nothing loud, not voice nor name,
Leave not a flicker, spark, or flame.
Fold up your shadow, press it flat,
Forget the street where you once sat.
Unlace your boots, erase your trail,
Let winds decide which truths prevail.
Let silence be your final word,
A softer sound than song or bird.
Do not explain, don’t say goodbye—
Just vanish in the morning sky.
Unpin your memories, one by one,
Like clothespins dropped beneath the sun.
Let photos fade, let letters burn,
To ash, from which you won’t return.
No need for maps, no need for signs,
The heart forgets in crooked lines.
Walk softer than the breath of rain—
Release your grief, unhook your name.
Become the mist that slips through trees,
A whisper caught in passing breeze.
Be here, then not—like dreams at dawn—
A shimmer felt, then simply gone.
