In a land from the past, where the Cretaceous held sway,

Lived an ornithopod, wise, with a lot to convey.

With teeth that could chew through the toughest of greens,

It thrived in a world full of changing scenes.

Now imagine this creature, in modern disguise,

Advising graduates with ancient ties.

"Greetings, young minds, at the start of your quest,

I've roamed through the ages and learned from the best.

In a world that keeps shifting, with time's endless flow,

There are secrets to thriving, that you ought to know.

Adaptation is the key, as the earth will attest,

To succeed in your journey, you must learn from the best.

Be like the ornithopod, nimble and keen,

Embrace every challenge, even the unforeseen.

When the climate gets warmer, and new plants appear,

Don't cling to the past or be frozen by fear.

Just as I chewed through the toughest of greens,

Strive to tackle your environment’s changing scenes.

In your career, as in nature, one thing is clear,

The landscape will change, perhaps every year.

Keep pace with new ideas while cherishing the old,

Balance tradition with innovation bold.

Adaptation also means knowing your worth,

And when to move on, finding new turf.

In jobs, as in life, there’s a time to persist,

But also, a time to create your list.

Resilience is crucial, as storms will often descend,

But with every downfall, there’s a chance to ascend.

Learn from each setback, let it strengthen your core,

For even in failure, you will learn to soar.

Stay humble, stay curious, never complacent,

For growth comes to those who remain patient.

In every endeavor, whether big or small,

Dedication and passion will conquer them all.

So as you embark on this grand career ride,

Remember the lessons from time’s ancient tide.

Be like the ornithopod, ever so wise,

Adapting to changes under shifting skies.

With teeth made for chewing through the toughest of greens,

You, too, can conquer life’s challenging scenes.

Embrace every change, let growth be your guide,

And in the landscape of work, you’ll stride with pride."

In the ever-changing world, be bold and clever,

And success shall be yours forever.

I love how you were able to intertwine past, present and future in this piece. Taking a current event from a past voice with a path to the future... which is indicative of commencement speeches.
