Digitalis Culturitis

Play nice ... :-)

By Andrew C McDonaldPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Within this, our current cultural season

There truly exist neither rhyme nor reason

Economy goes bust, laws are not just

Politicians wreak havoc, laws covered in dust

Internet cell phones, consoled digital clones

Have us burrow head in sand like ostrich drones

Neighbors are strangers rather than friends

Yet we friend those with whom our path doth not wend

Prices skyrocket in a market that won't mend

The world owes me a living is the catchphrase

Of people at all levels no matter the phase

Lives are destroyed by simple texts

Hate spreads despite who may be vexed

But ... There are many still who try to improve

By little deeds or posts that hearts do move

If most would just try to develop sympathy

Or when possible to delve into empathy

This electronic digital age

Could make acceptance and peace all the rage

Mostly, just stop ignoring the problem

Put down the controller and try to solve 'em

Get off the couch and say hi to your neighbor

It's just barely possible a kind word could save 'er

Get involved with more than the digi-verse

Interact with the actual physical universe

Find some small way, or big if you can

To make it a tad nicer for each and every man
