lost somewhere in secrets

a love we used to know

tangled in the echoes

a pain that won't let go

you sharpened the arrows

then you sold your own soul

living in the shadows

as distant as the north pole

covering the footprints

on a path from me to you

just learning how to sing

when you changed the whole tune

mixing up the letters

till you've created a new song

would it make it any better

if I said that we were all wrong

***

it took years for me to see

that you were just erasing me

how is it I never believed

all you needed from me, was freed

***

now we’re standing in different places

but I wear the same shoes

a thousand different faces

but all I see is you

throwing out the memory

like a glass of old wine

I guess that's the way you saw me

just a waste of your time

so I'll collect my things

separating like a surgeon

disconnecting strings

removing any burden

so that you get a clean slate

and I am left with all the hurting

I hope you're happy saving face

until you find yourself a new one

***

it took years for me to see

that you were just erasing me

how is it I never believed

all you needed from me, was freed
