Diamond
A metaphor for our journey as women, collectively and individually. This world has never been a safe place for us, but we have persevered. we have lifted our faces, and voices, to a point where we finally feel seen. To womankind... shine you lovely, badass, beautiful thing!

Once she was just carbon
Particulate, crumbly and small
The building blocks of life itself
But that was all
She drifted for milenia
Washed over gravel and stones
Through hundreds of cracks and crevices
Kneading her flesh and breaking her bones
She settled on the ocean floor
Defeated and let her down
Pressure built above her
She was covered with water and ground
Oh the weight of the world
The crippling pain and the dark
Though it shaped her into something new
It crushed her and moulded her heart
One day the world finally saw her
And marveled at what they had found
The earth had been lifted and shaken away
Her edges were polished and ground
She once was afraid of the light
For darkness was all she had know
For so long she had carried a burden
That she no longer carried alone
Her smile, it sparkled
Her facets were turned to the sun
Her time under pressure had strengthened her soul
Her moment to shine had begun!
About the Creator
The Rose
I have been writing poetry since a very young age. I don't usually share, but I thought I would get some of it out into the world.
