Desire, Defined
Lust, simply desire, natural to our human nature. However, let me make this note, that I’m not referring to sexual lust in this poem. When I use the word lust, and refer to the lust of the eye, I’m referring to general desire, specifically to what is seen. Again, I’m not referencing sexual desire here!
i'm lost
in your smile
and i do not wish to be found
in your eyes, i
could stay quite a while
if i may, be so cliché
as long as one of the voices in my head is your's,
i don't mind
being stuck
in this dreamlike state you put me in
when i'm-
with you there's no lost time
and when your sight crosses mine
i simply cannot look away
oh how cliché
to say
how the look in your eyes
leaves me mesmerized,
lost in the lust of mine
all good intentions but-
paved all the way to hell is the road of such
still, i am
consumed by you, you are
desire, defined
but-
the dangers of unruled desire defies the lines i've drawn in,
my mind
will i trust my heart?
or will fear stop me again?
i have to say
you're worth it
reminded everyday i see your face
oh how cliché
i'm not very fluent, in this language of varying emotions
is that okay?
all i say, i know-
cliché
to such a place
you bring me here and leave the key
still i stay
i know, cliché
lost in finding you
quite exactly, what I was looking for
your eyes and i
you are my, desire, defined
About the Creator
Josh Morgan
Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
