denial
pt 1 of a poetic series "friends to lovers"
we are soulmates
(of the platonic kind)
--eyes meeting across rooms
and my heart flutters (in relief)
my head whips back in laughter
and my hand falls on his shoulder
grounding me to him
(so i do not fall
out of the chair
threatening to tilt back)
the back of my hand
is jealous of him
for i do not know
where the small scar came from
yet i know him
like the bird knows where to go
because the path is ingrained
(that is how it is with friends)
and i do not have to pluck petals
to know i love him
and he loves me
(platonically)

🥰
Reading this makes me feel all loved up. What a beautiful assembling of words, love and platonic transitioning. I like the imagery here. The scar at the back of the hand — knowing not the when and the how — instead, knowing him and all that speaks more than...platonic. The brackets work well to tell us what you know, despite the unofficial sway of things. Well done Alexandria 🙂
Those are the best kind of find of friendship
