(how to) wither away

for Instructions for Disappearing

(how to) wither away

fly away on a one-way ticket into the unknown

and land amongst "friends" in an utopian mirage

-perfectly sunny and the rain falls so gently

feeding you thoughts of how you matter and how you deserve your spot

believe them and burrow into the dirt

lets your roots delve in

entangling with the others

what's mine is yours and what's yours mine

give more than what you have

and ignore the voice calling them vampires

when all of you start to poke through the earth

be fine when you are smaller and weaker

someone's got to be the weak short friend

in the spirit of friendship

they'll block the sun and rain

and call it protection

believe them and say thank you for caring

when you start to shrink and bend

let them compliment you

until you fade into nothing

but that one empty spot in a crowded pot

and out of their memories forever
