'Deimos', Dragan Bibin, 2015. Oil on Linen.
Are you curious? When you nose the dark
It knows you back. It pulls and repels your ruff
And keeps your tail low. Tread light.
//
The fear of an open door. The terror in
the meaning of a well-worn lock and
A blank wall, holding nothing back.
//
Let the dog go first. Let its shadow
Stretch and paw. Ask no questions.
An answer, in itself, means ill.

This is beautiful and mysterious - so true for certain moments in our lives!
That painting...is awesome and yours words are stunning, as ever. I did a poem about an unopened door actually...it's kinda an intro to a future project/anthology thing...but loved what you did with this! Just...another masterpiece.
Ooh, marvelous! How did you find that painting? It’s visceral. On the brink of calamity. You capture that brink perfectly. 🫣 But im terrified for the dog.
So true! Poor dogs... but they willingly help us out in so many ways!
Well done!
poem and picture match together perfectly. Really liked this one.

Fantastic response to the image. So many stunning lines but a blank wall...Brilliant! 🤍
"It knows you back" is a KILLER line. Love this!
Outstanding. Wonderfully evocative of the setting & moment.
Gotta admit, I have done that... let the dog go first 🤔 This is brilliant. I love the nose/knows bit ❤
Let the dog go first...to be fair, they've more powerful noses and better eyes for the dark. Great poem.
Noooo, don't let the dog go first. What if something happens to him 🥺 Loved your poem, you brought that painting to life with your words!
