Defeated

My point of no return

Stop!

The world spins without me,

Silently,

Unendingly.

I want off,

Out,

Enough,

Time-out.

Breathe,

Inhale deeply,

Hold on tight,

Battle discreetly.

I’m lost,

My heart shattered,

I’m no longer living,

For anything that mattered.

Existing,

Thrust into the wild,

Destroyed,

Discarded, exiled.

Broken,

Irreparable,

Totally replaceable,

My past deeds incommensurable.

Gone,

Turned to dust,

Disappear,

Let the world readjust.

Stop,

I haven’t enjoyed the ride,

My day has come,

And I am done!

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
