Deep Blue Night

Lay me down upon the shaded ground

The dark blue silence, of a sleeping town

My eyes pressed shut, in the middle of the road

Filling my sight with indigo

If you follow my footsteps, I’ll guide you there

Past the day’s simple blue tones of azure

Into the vibrancy of a cool summers dawn

Vibrancy not in sight but in a mind withdrawn

From the ever tempting lure of sleep

Society following the shepherds sun like sheep

Follow me into the dark blue night

That one sees as black with clouded sight

There is more to this world when you open your mind

That color lies still in the hearts of the blind
