gentle waves wash over the land,
a breeze like the sea
below a cloudless sky.
years of fear kept me far
from you, but your waters
have washed it all away.
allowed to stand in your world
to taste this air, this peace.
as if I could ever cease this smile.
a freedom not ever imagined
my laughter erupts like lava,
melting old demons to make room for you.
how many hours have waved goodbye
since I arrived?
nobody here cares for time.
let my heavy eyelids drop
and dream for once
of the water in light.
rising tides, the same gentle hands
guide me closer to your heart.
all the while I slumber.
blinking, upon awakening I'd see
that looks can be deceiving.
my fears were never misguided.
but I never woke again
and I never did see
the bottom of the deep.
what a funny thing
that acceptance of fear
lead me here.
at least I won't get
the chance to make
that mistake again.
