Haiku/poem

December rosebud

Mauve petals bask in sun, yet

Frosty death will come

This beautiful rose stretched in the sun, innocently trying to bloom. I wonder if she knew time was limited; was she anxious to bloom, knowing time was short and her winter doom was soon to come?

This is a beautiful haiku/poem that makes a striking contrast between the rosebud's delicate color and its short life. The feeling of limited time and coming winter doom is very clear and sad. Wonderful work.

The rose knows that it will bloom again, just enjoying the last sunshine of the season. your keen eye is admirable, the rose and us, thank you.

Beautiful Heiku befitting the rose portrait. That is very surprised nevertheless. Usually the roses are gone by October for sure

  • Lovely haiku & photo… Just ship your rose out to Australia a few months holiday… she’ll love it!🙃

The flowers that somehow find a way to bloom in December are such a miracle. Your poem is lovely and filled with tender melancholy, Andi.

I had a few December buds, but they didn't open liked I hoped they would, so I took them back out so that they could rot and just maybe come back in the Spring. Your haiku was perfect.
