Debi's Lovers

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

Debi prays deep into the night

But God doesn't hear her cries

So she painted faces on her bedroom walls

She gave them names

And next to them she snuggles and lies

They are lovers in her mirror

They are lovers in her mind

[Chorus]

Oh Debi

Oh Debi

Where did you go

To the arms of a phantom

To a lover no one knows

Oh Debi

Oh Debi

Your stories grew so wild

But you always stayed your mama's child

[Verse 2]

Her mother still calls her baby

She keeps her close and she keeps her chained

While Debi dances in circles

In a world where she's Queen

Her private monarchy is as real as her dreams

[[Chorus]

Oh Debi

Oh Debi

Where did you go

To the arms of a phantom

To a lover no one knows

Oh Debi

Oh Debi

Your stories grew so wild

But you always stayed your mama's child

[Verse 3]

Debi sets the table for two

Though the chairs stay empty and bare

Her lover kisses her on her lips

And Caresses her with A hand that isn’t there

Her fantasies are just castles made of clouds and air

[Chorus]

Oh Debi

Oh Debi

Where did you go

To the arms of a phantom

To a lover no one knows

Oh Debi

Oh Debi

Your stories grew so wild

But you always stayed your mama's child
