the autumn gusts and rain came in swiftly
with the ferocity
of a harsh winter storm
leaves thrashed all around
accumulating on the ground
like vast banks of snow
in a coloring book
filled with brightly painted hues
of rust crimson and gold
~
at once we sense the shifting winds
from the ocean
to the frigid heights
bitter grasp of daily frost
frozen river scarcely crossed
into the world unknown
where nameless stories
float adrift in blinding white
sheltered by ancient stones
~
soon will come that vernal sun
raising the dead
from an eternal slumber
warmth and rain will combine
as graceful rays intensely shine
on all the budding blooms
sprouting to life
harmony of chromatic vision
glowing under the crow moon
