Dear Yesterme,
*
I’m so glad we’ve had the chance to reconnect
And write each other now so frequently.
I never quite knew
That everything I chose to do, was in fact,
Because of you
*
I’ve been reflecting,
And don’t take it to heart, but,
Certain things that empowered you
No longer serve me
And I don’t think they ever served you either.
*
Chasing chaos was an escape
Running away, without clear direction,
In all your chasing and running,
How could you possibly stop
And breathe,
So that what was meant to find you could?
*
Always deeply misunderstood
I weep for your pain
But my patience finally broke,
We’re not the same anymore
There was a fork in the road
And we had to part ways
What can I say?
I’m grateful to have learned from you,
Not just as a guide
But as a warning too.
*
I forgive you
And I love you deeply.
You did what you could
With the tools that you had
But now I’m building something bigger,
Something that will stand the test of time
*
Sandcastles must dissolve
I want a house
Whilst I retain your playful spirit
I am grown
*
Good memories
Will keep their place in
The treasure trove,
The attic of my mind
But in the attic, you must stay and I must leave
I’ll visit you from time to time
This will not be my final letter
I promise you that we will thrive.
*
Sincerely,
