Dear sorrow, why do you haunt me so?

Why do you linger and never let go?

You weigh me down, you drain my soul,

You make me feel like I'm never whole.

Dear sorrow, I know you have a place,

But why must you stay and take up space?

Why can't you be like a passing cloud,

Drifting away, and leaving me proud?

Dear sorrow, I know you have a voice,

But why do you drown out all other noise?

Why can't you be like a gentle breeze,

Whispering softly, and putting me at ease?

Dear sorrow, I know you have a role,

But why must you always take control?

Why can't you be like a passing phase,

Teaching me lessons, and guiding my ways?

Dear sorrow, I know you'll never leave,

But why can't you let me just breathe?

Why can't you be a companion, not a foe,

A teacher, a friend, and help me grow?

Dear sorrow, I know you're here to stay,

But why must you always be in my way?

Why can't you be a part of my story,

Instead of the ending, the final glory?
